How we clean Stone floors

The first thing we do is a quote, after the the initial phone or email chat we will come round at a time to suit you and do a free demonstration to show you what results we can achieve. We will also have a chat about what you expect the floor to look like, you may want a real high shine, a honed matt look, colour enhanced or even a dressed wax finish, the choice is yours.

Once we arrive to do the job, the first thing we do when dealing with your stone floor cleaning requirements is to protect all the surfaces. We use a specially designed masking tape with a polythene drop sheet for protecting cupboard doors, skirting boards and anything else that may get splashed in the cleaning process.

Once everything is protected, we commence with the clean.

We first decide on what soiling levels are in the stone, this could be general dirt, or oils from food or dog coats, or it could be food-based. Once we determined the soiling level we decide on what solution to use. The solution is then sprayed onto the stone using a pump up sprayer. This is then left to dwell. Once the solution has had time to dwell we then start the agitation process. This is done using very heavy rotary machines with an attachment called a monster brush.

We can add weights to the machine to give a deeper clean and this also helps in cleaning the grout lines, once we’ve scrubbed the floor with the rotary machine we then manually clean the grout lines using a grout brush. (see picture)

We now proceed to rinse the floor with very hot water, using a special tool attached to our hot water extraction machine. The special tool is designed to contain the hot water so it does not splash all over the place, it also has a suction function which sucks up the excess water, this not only rinses the floor from soils but it also rinses up the solutions we put down to break the soils up.

More solution is then sprayed onto the floor and we change the rotary head to scrub pad, this gives a second chance to clean anything that we may have missed, we are very thorough in our clean and our results show this.

Again we rinse the floor with hot water using a higher water flow to remove any remaining soils and stubborn stains.

The floor is now thoroughly clean and some people are happy with these results. All we need to do now is seal the floor with a choice of sealers for you to choose, each sealer giving a slightly different finish to the floor.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row margin_top=”40″ margin_bottom=”0″][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Stone Floor Polishing and Grinding

Above is the process for Stone floor cleaning, but if your scratches on your floor or you want a real high shine this is where we start to grind your floor (only suitable for certain types of stone floors i.e Marble and Limestone). We use special diamond polishing pads and corks to grind and polish your floor to a high finish.

Use a very high-tech system which consists of three steps to give your floor very high and polish.

Step one takes extremely thin layer of your floor using diamond books on a very heavy rotary machine.

Step two uses the same system again but with a finer diamond book and finally step three, which is slightly different as it uses a diamond pad and some polishing powder to give your floor the ultimate shine. We then had a sealer to your floor to fully protect it making it extremely easy for you to maintain.

Once we have finished we give you full advice on how to care for your stone floor and we also leave you with some neutral cleaner, It is far better than any shop bought products and best of all it doesn’t leave a sticky residue behind after cleaning, which is the main cause of rapid re-soiling.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
